Fevicol is mainly used as a strong adhesive for bonding wood, plywood, laminates, veneers, MDF, particle boards and cork. It is widely used by carpenters and homeowners for making and repairing furniture, laminating surfaces, fixing loose joints and other interior woodworking applications in homes and offices.

Standard Fevicol white adhesive is water-resistant but not fully waterproof. It can handle occasional moisture and household humidity, making it suitable for most indoor furniture and carpentry work. For areas with constant water exposure, like bathrooms or exteriors, specialised waterproof Fevicol variants are recommended for better long-term performance.

Fevicol typically becomes touch-dry within 20–30 minutes, depending on the layer thickness, temperature and airflow. However, for a strong and durable bond, it is best to clamp or weight the surfaces and allow at least 6–8 hours of drying time. Full strength is generally achieved after about 24 hours.

Fevicol is specially formulated for porous surfaces like wood, plywood and boards, so it works best on those materials. While it may give temporary bonding on some plastics or metals, it is not recommended as a permanent solution. For strong plastic or metal bonds, use adhesives specifically designed for those surfaces.

If Fevicol is still wet, you can usually wipe it off gently using a damp cloth. For dried adhesive, carefully scrape off the excess with a blunt tool, taking care not to damage the surface. On wooden surfaces, light sanding can help remove residue. Avoid strong chemicals that may harm the material.
