TVS Jupiter 125 is a scooter available in 4 variants and 11 colours. The TVS Jupiter 125 is powered by 124.8cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 8.04 bhp and a torque of 10.5 Nm. With front disc and rear drum brakes, TVS Jupiter 125 comes up with combined braking system of both wheels. This Jupiter 125 scooter weighs 108 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 5.1 liters.
The Jupiter 125 is TVS’ take on a premium family scooter. It mainly focuses on comfort and convenience with a large underseat storage space and a fuel filler at the front being its main USPs.
The Jupiter 125 has been built from the ground up and doesn’t share anything with the older Jupiter 110. The company has used the Jupiter name as it has a strong brand recall and over the years, through the 110cc version, Indian customers have been able to trust the reliability and performance of the brand.
The Jupiter 125 gets its power from a new 125cc, air-cooled engine incorporating a two-valve head, unlike the Ntorq 125's three-valve setup. It churns out around 8.2bhp of power and 10.5Nm of peak torque. This motor is mated to a CVT gearbox. In terms of cycle parts, it rides on 12-inch wheels with telescopic forks and a monoshock, which interestingly gets a new mechanism for adjusting preload easily. The braking department is handled by a 220mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear. However, a complete drum brake version also comes as an option.
Interestingly, the Jupiter 125 offers a 33-litre under-seat storage space, which means two half-face helmets can fit in easily. TVS has been able to manage this by providing a fuel tank below the floorboard. The fuel filler cap can be accessed below the handlebar, which makes it extremely convenient. Then, a USB charger comes as standard. One can also opt for the top-spec variant, which gets Bluetooth connectivity.
The Jupiter 125 also goes against the Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125, and the Hero Destini 125.
This is TVS’ newest contender in the highly-competitive 125cc scooter genre - the Jupiter 125. We had ridden it back in October, at TVS’ test track in Hosur, and told you everything that we could in the short amount of time we spent with the scooter. You can read our first impressions here. But now, we have ridden it comprehensively and lived with it for a few days, eventually knowing it much better. So do we still like it as much as we did during the first ride review? Let’s find out.
