Prepare well-tilled soil or grow bags with good drainage. Water the tomato seedlings (टोमॅटो रोप) lightly before transplanting. Transplant in the evening, keeping 1–1.5 feet spacing between plants. Firm the soil around roots and water immediately. Provide support stakes as plants grow and maintain regular watering and fertilization.

Tomato seedlings usually take around 20–30 days from sowing to reach ideal transplant size, depending on temperature and variety. Seedlings are ready when they have 3–4 true leaves, a strong stem and well-developed roots. At this stage, they handle field conditions better and establish quickly after transplanting.

Water tomato seedlings regularly to keep the soil moist but never waterlogged. In trays or small pots, this may mean watering once or twice a day, depending on heat and airflow. After transplanting, water deeply every 2–3 days, then adjust based on rainfall, soil type and plant growth stage.

Tomato seedlings grow best in light, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Use a mix of garden soil, compost and cocopeat or sand for good aeration. Avoid heavy, waterlogged soil, as it damages roots. A slightly acidic to neutral pH, around 6–7, helps seedlings develop strong and healthy.

Transplant tomato seedlings when they are 3–4 weeks old, 10–15 cm tall, and have at least 3–4 true leaves. Choose a cool evening or cloudy day to reduce transplant shock. Ensure the field is well-prepared, moist and weed-free so the seedlings can establish quickly and resume active growth.

Tomato seedlings need plenty of bright light to grow strong stems and healthy leaves. Provide at least 5–6 hours of direct sunlight daily, or equivalent strong artificial light if grown indoors. Insufficient light makes plants tall and weak, while balanced sunlight promotes sturdy, high-yielding tomato plants later.
