Prepare well-drained soil with organic manure. Plant each drumstick seedling in a pit 1.5–2 feet deep, spacing 8–10 feet apart. Water immediately after planting and keep soil moist, not waterlogged. Provide full sunlight. Apply compost or balanced fertilizer every 45–60 days. Prune branches regularly to encourage more flowering and pod production.

To plant drumstick seedlings for best growth, choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Dig pits about 1.5–2 feet deep, mix soil with compost, and plant the seedling upright. Maintain 8–10 feet spacing, water immediately, keep soil slightly moist, and avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot.

Drumstick seedlings, especially PKM-2 and PKM-10 varieties, generally start flowering in about 6–8 months under good care, with proper sunlight, irrigation and nutrients. Harvestable pods usually appear around 8–10 months after planting. Timely pruning and regular manuring can improve flowering, pod size and overall yield significantly.

For high yield, PKM-2 and PKM-10 drumstick seedlings are widely preferred by farmers. These improved varieties give more pods per plant, longer and uniform fruits, and faster first harvest compared to traditional types. Coimbatore Long is also popular for its long, attractive pods and good market acceptance.

The number of drumstick seedlings per acre depends on spacing. With a common spacing of 8 x 8 feet, you can plant roughly 680–700 plants per acre. Some farmers use closer spacing like 7 x 7 feet for higher density, but proper airflow, sunlight and management are important to maintain plant health.

After planting drumstick seedlings, water regularly for the first 1–2 months without overwatering. Keep the area weed-free, apply organic manure or balanced fertilizer every 45–60 days, and protect young plants from grazing animals. Light pruning after plants establish helps develop strong branches and encourages more flowers and pods later.
